About the Choir
Chamber female choir Carmina Bohemica, based in Prague, was founded in 2007. It has become an interesting variegation of the Czech choir scene due to the chamber structure and diverse repertoire.
The vocal ensemble Carmina Bohemica is performing on the profile concerts without instruments (a capella) and accompanied by instruments as well. Young singers interpret completely divergent music styles with absolute assurance and tremendous musicality.
The range of music includes Gregorian chorals, Renaissance polyphonic music, works of the classical period, romantic compositions, vocal production of the 19th and 20th century, folk songs of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia and also up-to-date songs from nations all over the world sung in original languages.
Art conductor and choirmaster of this ensemble is Mrs. Věra Hrdinková.
Choirmaster Věra Hrdinková, born in 1971, draws on her long affiliation with Bambini di Praga. As a soloist and general member of the choir for 27 years, she served the last 15 of those years as a teacher and choirmaster. With the choir, she performed throughout Europe, Japan and America. As choirmaster, she directed the choir in its concert tours of New York, Italy, France and Germany. With Bambini, she participated in recording 15 CDs, and under her guidance, the choir recorded songs for films, fairytales and commercials. She has worked with soloists from the National Theatre as a language consultant on the operas ‘Bartered Bride‘ and ‘Dalibor‘.
